KELLY ROSE . .
.
I don't
remember why I went to Oak Creek Homes first but when I walked in the door
and was greeted by Kathy, I immediately felt at ease.
See, I had never
bought a home before, had no idea what to expect, and was quite nervous
about the whole thing. I knew I wanted a smallish home and that I wanted an
open living/kitchen floor plan. Other than that, I really didn't have much
idea what I was doing.
Kathy showed me a few homes on the lot. All were
nice, but all were too large or didn't have the layout I wanted. I was
impressed with the quality of the houses I saw, though.
From there I went to
several other places to look. Not one of the salespeople at any of them
listened to what I told them I wanted. They kept taking me into huge houses,
expensive houses, houses that just did not suit my needs.
I went back to Oak
Creek to do some serious talking with Kathy. She was determined to help me
find 'the' house. There was one the factory had not even built yet. They
sent her a copy of the floor plan. Perfect size and almost perfect layout.
The one thing I wanted to change was in the master bath. I did not want a
big tub in it....I didn't want a tub in there at all. (I am a shower girl!)
Kathy told me that could be taken out and they could put a big walk in
shower there.
To make that long story shorter, the people who designed the
house changed the master bathroom layout all around to give me the 'no tub',
an extra very nice closet, as well as the large walk in closet and extra
linen storage. I was amazed! They can do that??
I also wanted natural gas
heat, dryer hookup, range, water heater. Kathy said they could do that too.
More amazement! The price was right, the layout was right, the utilities
were right. What else could there be? Oh, yes! I got to choose all my
colors: carpet, linoleum, counters, cabinets, even outside paint and trim
colors....everything! It was built and ready to bring in at least a couple
of weeks before I had the site ready for it, and as soon as everything was
set they had it here almost immediately. A few days later it was ready for
me to move in.
Tony, the site manager was great to work with. He figured out just where I
could put the house on my property and checked with me regularly to be sure
things were going okay.
Ed, the plumber, was the man who had to deal with me and the utility
companies many many times. He was so nice, helpful and patient with me that
I didn't feel awful when I had to call him several times with questions
and/or problems. He even made a few trips out to just check on things
before, during and after the house installation.
Jeff and his wife Cheryl were the ones to come fix the little things that
needed it after the house was here and I had lived in it a while. They made
three or four trips here to take care of those repairs, and were a delight
to be around, as well as being very good at making sure they did the things
I needed.
Rhonda helped me though the paperwork process and explained things to me
however many times I needed them explained. She made phone calls to people
when utility company problems were holding things up. She checked in with me
regularly to see how things were going and to assure me I could call any
time I needed/wanted to. As a matter of fact, since I moved in for my first
night here on July 29, I have had to call a few times for help and advice.
Each time things were taken care of immediately.
Kathy is where it all started. As I said, from the minute I walked in and
sat down with her I felt this was the place for me. She listened to what I
wanted and cared that I should GET what I wanted and made sure the house I
picked was the right one for me.
I couldn't be happier with my experience with the whole Oak Creek gang and I
would/will/did recommend them to anyone who wants to buy a home. |
